A public step of faith
Baptism
Baptism is an outward symbol of an inward decision to believe the gospel, turn from sin, and receive new life in Jesus Christ.
What baptism means
In the New Testament, baptism involved a public confession of faith in Jesus Christ. Being lowered into the water pictures being washed by the blood of Jesus; rising from the water pictures newness in Christ.
Through baptism, believers publicly identify with Christ and His Church, announcing that Jesus Christ is their Savior and Lord.
